Whale of a Sale helps families in need

The 2020 Whale of a Sale was a roaring good time not just for our members and guests but also for families in need who were the recipients of $50.00 vouchers for the day of sale. These families were selected by Daniel Memorial due to their connection with other community programs as being in need of basic household items, dishes, linens, children’s clothes, trash cans, small appliances, and furniture. Twenty-five families were selected to receive a voucher and arrange for pick-up of their most needed items. Our members had the privilege of helping locate, load, and deliver items to families in need. In total, $1250.00 was given to the families who attended. Post sale, we were able to provide donations to Hubbard House Thrift Store, St. Vincent de Paul, Hope’s Closet, Salvation Army, Friends of Jacksonville Library, Humane Society, Animal Control & Protective Services, City Rescue Mission and others.
